Around the School – Green Thumbs

SV now has a school garden! Given to the school as a parting gift from the Class of 2016, SV families helped the garden come to fruition. The project was spearheaded by Sarah Kornfeld and Mike Karr, and Stacey Leotta assisted with obtaining grants. Parents and children helped built planter
boxes, place soil, and collect eucalyptus branches for a special sculpture. The sculpture was designed by Owen Fritts, a designer and architect specializing in sculptures made from sustainable materials. There are now 9 planter boxes, one for each grade to use to plant their own seeds! Science teacher Korey McKean will be working with the students on this as part of their science curriculum. We’re excited to see what each grade will grow!
