This year one of the focuses is to improve the technology accessible to our students. One of the newest additions to the classrooms was the installation of SMART boards in every classroom. These are digital, touch sensitive white boards, and this past school year, every classroom was outfitted with a SMART board. Grades 1,3, 5, and 7 received them first with a generous $7,548 grant from the Gellert Foundation. Later in the year, the Gellert foundation funded an additional $5,000. Funds were also received from the Guild with a donation of $6,000; grades K, 2, 4, 6, and 8 had their SMART boards installed. The children are enjoying the use of these boards to help them learn in the classroom and collaborate with teachers through the use of this new technology.
In May, the students also held a Walkathon. Sponsored by the Mens club, students obtained sponsors who donated money per the amount of laps they did around the school yard. They raised $6,000, and this money will go towards the purchase of iPads for each class. A great time was had by all!
